Invisalign Clear Braces
Many patients are unhappy with the appearance of their smiles because teeth are crooked, unevenly spaced, or the bite is misaligned. However, these same patients often choose to forego straightening their teeth because they don’t want to spend months or years with a mouth filled with brackets and wires. Lucky for patients of Blue Stone Hills Dentistry, we offer an invisible alternative – Invisalign clear braces. This alignment tray orthodontic system allows patients to straighten their smiles without the hassle of traditional braces. If you would like to learn more about Invisalign, please don’t hesitate to call our team to schedule an orthodontic consultation in our state-of-the-art Harrisonburg dentistry practice. We’ll examine your smile and help you create a treatment plan to deliver a healthy, beautiful smile.
What Makes Invisalign Different?
Traditional braces use brackets fastened to the front of teeth and connected by wires. The wires are adjusted to place pressure on the brackets, shifting teeth into their ideal position. Invisalign uses a series of clear, plastic aligners to move teeth into place. Each set of alignment trays in the series represents your smile one step closer to the ideal end result, and after about 12 months of treatment, you’ll have a gorgeous smile.
Do I Have to Straighten My Teeth?
You don’t have to, but you may want to at least consider it. Straightening your teeth is about so much more than just having a good looking smile. Straighter teeth are typically much healthier. This is due in part to the alignment making it easier to thoroughly brush and floss your teeth, and better positioned smiles also spread pressure evenly across the bite. This reduces risk for dental chips and cracks, and it relieves pressure on the jaw that can lead to TMJ dysfunction.
How Does Invisalign Work?
Invisalign uses a series of clear, plastic aligners to shift teeth into position. Each set of aligners positions teeth one step closer to the end result. You’ll simply wear each set of alignment trays for about two weeks. Then, exchange the current aligners for the next set in the series.
How Long Will My Treatment Last?
One of the may benefits associated with Invisalign orthodontics is the time you save compared with traditional braces. Every treatment plan is unique, but the majority of patients complete their Invisalign plan within eight to eighteen months. In addition to this abbreviated overall treatment time, patients also have fewer appointments during the Invisalign process than are necessary with bracket and wire braces. This means you will save time throughout your treatment.
What Does Invisalign Cost?
The cost of Invisalign varies based on your individual treatment plan, the number of aligners needed, and any additional orthodontic services required. In most cases, your Invisalign plan will cost about the same amount or less than traditional braces. In rare cases, you may need to pay a little more for your Invisalign treatment. Fortunately, many dental insurance providers offer the same coverage for Invisalign as traditional braces.
How do I Care for My Teeth During & After Invisalign?
During your Invisalign treatment plan, you won’t need to make many changes to your typical oral hygiene routine. Simply remove the aligners to brush and floss. You’ll also need to clean your alignment trays. You can gently brush them and rinse them with cool water. After your Invisalign plan is complete, you will need to wear a retainer. This allows your newly positioned teeth to fuse with the supportive bone and gum tissue. In some cases, we can use clear retainers that look just like your Invisalign trays. Whatever type of retainer is used, you’ll simply remove it to brush and floss each day, and brush and rinse the retainer before replacing it.
